Ice cream will always be a top choice when it comes to satisfying your sweet tooth and cooling off on hot summer days. This tasty treat can be found topping off a crispy waffle cone and accompanied by sprinkles, or in a bowl with a cherry on top. But there are so many more ways that this favorite dessert can be served and enjoyed.
1. Ice cream sandwiches
Instead of picking up a box of ice cream sandwiches from your local grocery store, make your own for a flavorful dessert that everyone will love. Choose your favorite type of cookie, whether it’s chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin or macadamia nut, and layer a scoop of fresh homemade ice cream in between. Dress up the outer layer of ice cream with chocolate chips or sprinkles. You can also mix it up and use brownies or slices of fresh pound cake instead of cookies for an equally delicious flavor.
2. Ice cream cake
Can’t decide between cake and ice cream? Have them both! You don’t have to necessarily bake an ice cream cake, however. Instead, take a simple approach by baking the cake and making the ice cream separately. Take a bowl and layer the cake with ice cream and fresh fruit.
3. Adult-only milkshakes
Next time you throw a summer get together, offer the adults special milkshakes that have been infused with liquor. For instance, make a traditional chocolate milkshake and infuse a bit of fruit and some bourbon, or make a banana milkshake and add in a bit of rum to complement the fruity flavor.
4. Add it to pie
We all know that ice cream is delectable when placed on top of a slice of pie, but why not put the ice cream inside of your pie? Make an Oreo pie crust and layer in chocolate frosting and mint chocolate chip ice cream for a summer treat that will be gone before you know it. A fundamental baking class online can help you craft the perfect mint chocolate chip ice cream.
5. Ice cream bars
Fill popsicle molds with homemade ice cream and insert a wooden stick into each slot. Leave them in the freezer overnight, then dip them in melted (but cooled) chocolate and return them to the freezer until the outer coating of chocolate hardens.
6. Ice cream cupcakes
You can eat ice cream with cake, so why not cupcakes? Bake a batch of your favorite cupcakes, and dress them up with one scoop of homemade ice cream.
